1924 – 2015
Gordon Stanton Ellis, 90, of the Foyer Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes and formerly of Janeville, passed away peacefully on Saturday January 17, 2015 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst.
Born in Janeville, N.B. he was the son of the late Albert and Muriel (Gammon) Ellis.
Over the years he worked as a woodsman, farmer, and fisherman eventually retiring from the Finishing and Shipping Department of the former Consolidated Bathurst paper mill in Bathurst.
His kind manner, gentle nature and generosity of spirit will be missed by the many who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife Norma (Payne) Ellis of Janeville.
Two sons: Hugh (Robert Dugas) of Fredericton, Peter (Shari Smith-Ellis) of Janeville.
One granddaughter Lauren Ellis of Halifax.
One daughter-in-law, Jane Crozier-Ellis of Fredericton.
He is also survived by his sister, Marjorie Buchanan of Saint John.
Two brothers-in law: Charles F. Payne (Gail) of Sun City Center, Florida, Gordon S. ''Buzz'' Payne (Agnes) of Hampton, N.B.
One sister-in-law, Elizabeth Craig (Scott) of Chestermire, Alta., as well as seven nieces.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by two sisters: Garda H. Pearce and Lela A. Robson and one brother, Eric C. Ellis
Visitation will be held at the Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm on Monday January 19 2015.
A funeral service will be held at the Elhatton’s Funeral Chapel on Tuesday January 20 at 2 pm. A reception will follow the service.
Donations in memory of Gordon may be made to the Central United Church Memorial Fund or a charity of the donor’s choice.
