1930-2015
Bathurst - Theodor Adolph ''Opa'' Nickum, 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 20th, 2015 at the Foyer Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes. Formerly of Allison Crescent.
He was predeceased by his parents: Karl Nickum and Lina Simone, and his brother, Helmut. He was recently predeceased by his wife Margaret Helena Dubé.
He is survived by his son, Carl (Joanne) Nickum.
Two daughters: Susan (Daniel Kenny), Karen (Mark Belliveau).
Four grandchildren Kyle, Linsay, Kirsten, and Erin.
One great granddaughter, Alice.
One sister, Hedwig (Robert) Molke of Australia.
One brother, Gerhardt of Germany.
Theodor was born in Anneweiler am Trifles, Germany, where he lived until he immigrated to Canada in 1954. He lived in CapeBreton where he began his new life in a new and peaceful land. He slowly moved westward and stopped in Bathurst and remained here until his death where he met the love of his life. He started his career in mechanics at Duvale motors where he developed a passion for the German engineering of the Volkswagon. He moved on to be a heavy duty mechanic at Smurfit Stone for the remainder of his career where he made many lifetime friends. He had many other passion including photography, tinkering (as there was not a thing that he could not fix) and his family and friends. He was his happiest when he was on a mission to fix or help some one out.

There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be celebrated on Monday January 26, 2015 at 11 a.m. from Elhatton’s Funeral Home Chapel (www.elhatton.com) St. George St., Bathurst.
