1929 – 2015
Bathurst - Ross Glenn Berry, 85, of Union St. and formerly of O'Neil Dr. Bathurst, passed away peacefully on Wednesday January 28, 2015, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst.
Born in Hamilton, Ont., he was the eldest son of the late Glenn Ross and Kathleen (Girt) Berry.
He was pre-deceased by his wife, Dorothy Mary (Lavigne) Berry in 2010.
He served in the Canadian Armed Forces from January 1951 to June 1971 and was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion for 45 years. He met his wife Dorothy Lavigne while overseas during peace time in Mets, France. They celebrated 56 years together.
They had four children: Paul Berry (Christine Wooley) of Sackville, N.B., Wanda Mugridge (Ray) of Sydney, N.S., Glenn Berry of Moncton and Donna Thibodeau (Dale) of Bathurst.
Seven grandchildren: Caitlin, Erin, Dylan, Robin, Amber, Ryonn, Kyle and seven great-grandchildren.
One brother, Thomas Berry (June) of Hamilton.
Three sisters: Mary Berry and Glenna Rattray (Robert) both of Hamilton, Ont. and Shirley Brisco (William) of California, U.S., several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Donald, two sisters: Janet (in infancy) and June.
There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home. Funeral service will be celebrated on Monday February 2, 2015, at 11 a.m. from Elhatton’s Funeral Home Chapel, St. George St.
Donations in memory of Ross may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, Palliative Care Unit of the Chaleur Regional Hospital Foundation or a favorite charity.
