1940-2015
Mr. Herman Aubie of Bathurst, N.B. passed away at the Chaleur Regional Hospital on January 29, 2015 at the age of 74, surrounded by family.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Doran and Sylvia Aubie.
Herman is survived by his partner, Dora MacKenzie.
His daughter Christine Vienneau (Robert) of Bathurst.
His son, Allen (Carolyn) of Fredericton and two grandchildren: Matthew and Emily.
Herman also leaves behind four step-children: Raymond, Susan, David, and Gail and numerous step-grandchildren.
Herman leaves behind many brothers and sisters: Walter Aubie (Hannah), Irene Morais (Leo), Donald Aubie, Betty Ann LeBlanc (the late David), Danny Aubie and Bernie Aubie (Norma), all of Bathurst and Rose Marie Hosie (David) of Toronto. He is also survived by several in-laws, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one brother, Ernest.
Herman was employed for many years with the Bathurst Paper Mill and Kenny's Asphalt Company.
Herman loved hockey, especially the Montreal Canadiens. He was also a fan of the Toronto Blue Jays, which may have stemmed from his time as pitcher for the South End Stallions softball team. Herman loved the outdoors. Fishing, camping, and hunting were the things he enjoyed most in life. While not musically inclined like many of his relatives, no one could match Herman's dancing prowess.
In recent years, Herman fought a long battle with cancer and was proud to walk as a survivor in the Relay for Life.
At the request of the family, there will be no visitation. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 4 p.m. Monday February 2, 2015 from Holy Family Church, St. Peter Ave., Bathurst.
Donations in memory of Herman may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (www.cancer.ca) or a charity of the donor’s choice.
The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Chaleur Regional Hospital for the excellent care given to Herman over the past few months.
