1944 - 2015

Bathurst - Michael L. Smith, 70, of South Tetagouche, passed away Thursday, April 8, 2015, at the Moncton Hospital, following a brief illness.

Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Dudley and Marina (Lewis) Smith.

Mike worked in the prospecting field throughout Canada and abroad, eventually being awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by his peers.

He is survived by three sons: Wesley and Jason (Cindy) both of Cambridge, Ont., Kevin Regan of Calgary, Alta.

Two daughters: Lisa MacDonald (Greg) and Cherie Smith both of Bathurst.

Mike was always happiest in the presence of his grandchildren: Carly, Bailey, Ryver, Owen, Kenzie and Jenny.

Also survived by four brothers: John Smith (Patricia) of Bathurst, Paul Smith (Phyllis) of Dieppe, Roy Smith of Middle River, Kenneth Smith (Verna) of Bathurst.

Three sisters: Carol Tremblay (late Denis) of Montreal, Que., Arlene Tremblay (Albert) of Middle River and Linda Debardi (Elio) of Montreal, Que.

And his first wife, Doreen (Pitre) Smith of Bathurst.

Several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his second wife, Julie (Shehu) Smith and a brother Ronnie and a sister, Judy.

There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home.  Funeral Service will be celebrated on Monday, April 13, 2015, at 4 p.m. from Elhatton's Funeral Chapel, St. George St., Bathurst. 

Donation in memory of Mike may be made to the Moncton Hospital, Oncology Unit.
