Carmelita Margaret Peters (Roy)
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Carmelita Peters which occurred suddenly, but peacefully, at home in the early morning of Saturday, 20 February 2016, at the age of 79.
Carmelita retired in 1992 after 25 years as Supervisor of Accounts Payable for Brunswick Mining & Smelting Inc. While she very much enjoyed her career and the people she worked with throughout the years, she also delighted in retirement spent with her husband of 46 years, Eric Westerberg, treasuring time together enjoying their home, nature, each other, friends and family.
Besides her husband, Carmelita is survived by two daughters, Wendy (Niagara Falls) and Brenda (Saint John), as well as her only brother, whom she dearly adored, Peter Roy (Patricia Gagnon), four loving sisters Rose-Marie Frenette (Leo) and Marjorie Doucet (Gordon) of Bathurst, Barbara Aubie (Ralph) of Beresford, Ann Hewlyn (Hiram) of Cormack, NF, along with her much-cherished nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of ten years, Weldon Peters, in 1968, as well as her father Louis Roy, mother Leona Roy (Melanson), and sister Henrietta Allcott (Gerald).
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Oncology Unit at the Moncton City Hospital, Dr. Sheldon Rubin, The George Dumas Hospital, Dr. Andrée Lirette, first responder and friend Mr. Leonard McGrath, Emergency Department personnel at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Dr. Anna V. Dugas, and Dr. Charles Weka Lungunga.
At Carmelita’s specific request, there will be no visitation at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, she would have preferred donations be made to the Bathurst SPCA Animal Shelter, The Canadian Cancer Society or The Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation.
In accordance with family tradition, arrangements are in the trusted care of personnel at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com).
