Mrs. Elizabeth Young of Vanier Blvd. in Bathurst died on 17th January at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst after a brief illness at the age of 72. Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of Josephine (Brennan) Power and the late Harold A. Power. Her first husband Paul Merriam died in 1954. Besides her mother of North Tetagouche, she is survived by her former spouse Arthur Young. Also her five children; Jerry, Wayne and Lynn Merriam and their families, Bob and Erin Young and their families. One sister, Bernice Davidson and two brothers; Allie and Brennan Power. Betty was pre-deceased by her father and one sister, Claire Picot. Funeral Mass was celebrated from Holy Family Church, St Peter Avenue, Bathurst on Wednesday 19th January at 11:00 a.m. Pallbearers were Lynn Merriam, James Merriam, Jordan, Merriam, John Davidson, Lennie Power and Jerry Merriam. Honorary bearer was Greg Calnan. Burial will take place later this summer in the United Church Cemetery St. Anne Street. The family would appreciate donations to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Association. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton Funeral Home of Bathurst.
