Mrs. Yvonne Brideau, 75, of Victoria Ave., Bathurst, died Sunday (January 23, 2005) at Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Newcastle, she was the daughter of the late Dave and Lucie (Fournier) McLaughlin. During her life, she was a Foster Parent to 19 children and 39 elderly men and women. Besides her husband Pierre Brideau, she is survived by: Three sons: Gerald Brideau (Rose) of Madran, Marven Brideau (Pauline) of Allardville and Peter Brideau (Carole) of South Tetagouche; Eight daughters: Annette Fournier (Sandie) of Pont LaFrance, Rita White (Percy), Marie-Louise Theresa Black (late Basil), Debbie Willet (Mike) and Gloria Chiasson (Maurice), all of Bathurst, Bertha Brideau (late Tom Roy) of Petit-Rocher, Sandra Colestock (Richard) of Montague, PEI and Elva Doucet (Reno) of Pointe Verte; One brother: Isaac McLaughlin (Thérèse) of Neguac; Four half-brothers: Ludger Brideau (Marthe) of Brantville, Wilfred McLaughlin (Lorraine) of Saint John, Gerard McLaughlin (Clémentine) of Baie Ste Anne and Joseph McLaughlin (Debbie) of Saint John; Two half-sister: Matilda LaCasse (Jean-Marie) of Rivière du Portage and Amanda Kelly (late Camille) of Neguac; her step-mother, Adeline Brideau of Rivière du Portage; 18 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by newborn son Henry; brothers Gilbert, Alcide, Donat; sisters Martha, Elizabeth, Jessie and Anita. The body will rest after 7 p.m. Tuesday at Elhatton's Funeral Home, Bathurst. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday afternoon (January 27, 2005) at 2:00 p.m. from Holy Family Church, St. Peter Ave. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. For anyone wishing to send tokens of sympathy, the family would appreciate donations to the IWK Hospital Foundation, the Bathurst Chaleur Emergency Homeless Shelter or a favorite charity. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 7 to 9 and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 and Thursday from noon till time of Funeral.
