The death of Joan Kenny occurred at her home in Thomasville, Georgia on Sunday, April 22nd, 2018 at the age of 89.
Originally from Bathurst she was the daughter of the late James and Frances (Melanson) Kenny and was the last surviving member of her family.
She is survived by her life partner Mary Ellen O’Connor and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Bernard, Cletus, Harold, Byron and Paul; sisters Connie Pitre, Evelyn Nichols and Sister Paul of the Cross (Adrian).
Joan graduated from the Hotel Dieu Hospital in Moncton,NB in 1950 as a Registered Nurse. Upon becoming a nurse she moved to the United States where she nursed for many years in various States including New Jersey, Florida and Georgia and consequently becoming a U.S. Citizen. Joan gave of her time and talent as she volunteered at many organizations.
A funeral mass was held in Thomasville, Georgia.
Interment will take place in the South Bathurst Cemetery on King Ave. in Bathurst on Friday, August 17 at 2:00 p.m. with Father Damian officiating.
