George 'Buster' Astle 2005

Bathurst ? George “Buster” Astle, 77, of Patterson Cres., Bathurst, and formerly of Chatham, passed away on Sunday (November 13, 2005) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst.
Born in Chatham, he was the son of the late Robert and Florence Astle.
He moved to Bathurst in the early 1950's, and was employed with the former Bathurst Power and Paper Ltd, retiring with Stone Consolidated as superintendent of the Steam Plant and was a member of the Company's Quarter Century Club. He was a long time member of Saint George's Anglican Church and its choir. He was a member of the Herman J. Good, V.C. Br. 18, Royal Canadian Legion, Bathurst, for 32 years.
Buster was very active in Municipal Politics and was known as the City Council Watchdog, with many entrees to The Northern Light “Letters To The Editor” regarding City affairs and also ran in many council elections. He was a welcoming fixture at the local coffee shop on Main St., where he spent many evenings chatting and discussing local matters with staff and friends.
He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife, the former Catherine “Kay” Carroll and a son Dale.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Devoted grandfather to: Craig, Tiffany, Myles, Emma, Catherine, George, Madeline, Sherry and his pride and joy was his great-grandson, Caleb.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 t 9. Funeral Service will be held from St. George's Anglican Church on Friday (November 18, 2005) at 2:00 p.m., Bathurst.
