South Tetagouche - We the family of Essel Jean (Clouston) Smith wish to announce her peaceful passing on Saturday, February 11, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 88.
Born in Bathurst she was the daughter of the late Willard and Minnie (Good) Clouston.
She is survived by her husband Alton Smith of 66 years and her children Darlene Smith, Glenna Boucher (Denis), Floyd Smith (Marlene Legacy and her daughter Madison), Ellen Smith and Ardith Smith (Robert Allain).
She is also survived by grandchildren, Shawn Boucher (Meagan), Raymond Smith (Megan Doucet and her son Cameron), Craig Boucher, Courtney Jennings, Philip Smith (Charline), Allison Smith, Jessica Woodbury and Sophia MacIntosh. Her cherished great-grandchildren Asher and Ada Boucher, Henry Alton Smith, Jackson Woodbury and Ava MacIntosh.
She also leaves to mourn her brothers Hughie Clouston (Edith) and Murray Clouston (late Edna) and her sisters-in-law: Edna Jennings, Alma Clouston and Ruth Clouston.
Essel was predeceased by her siblings Ola, Hilda, Byron, Leigh, Ralph, Hazen, Ella, Wilmer, Carl, Norman and Glenna.
Mom was an active member of WI (New Brunswick Women’s Institute) and a member of St. George's Anglican Church. She enjoyed quilting with her quilting friends and loved spending time outdoors on her snowshoes, gardening and 4 wheeling to the camp with our dad. She loved camping trips with the family and always liked a good game of solitaire in her gazebo.
Visitation will be held from 2 – 4 p.m. only on Wednesday February 15, 2023, from Elhatton’s Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held from St. Georges Anglican Church on Thursday February 16, at 2p.m.
