It is with sadness that we, the family, of Esther Annie Gilliss, wife of the late Howard Gilliss, announce her passing, which occurred on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital at the age of 91.
Born in Chatham she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Mary MacDonald.
She is survived her daughter-in-law, Brenda Logan-Gilliss of Beresford and son-in-law, Rennie Hynes of Labrador city.
Granddaughters: Cheryl Hynes and Tammy (Sheldon) Woodford, great-grandsons: Jarred Hynes and Morgan Woodford.
Three sisters: Catherine Godfrey, Ethel Godfrey, Hilda Vienotte.
Sister-in-law and special friend, Agnus Lamkey of Napan. Several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Carol Lee Hynes and her son, Paul Howard Gilliss.
The family would like to thank Southern Comfort for the wonderful care given to Esther and the nurses of the Palliative Care Unit, especially Wanda.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held in the spring.
