Bathurst - Guy Francis Hachey, 83, of Poirier St., Bathurst, passed away on Sunday (February 5, 2006) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a brief illness. Born in Bathurst on April 2, 1922, he was the eldest of six children of the late Larr and Helen (Doucet) Hachey. Besides his wife, the former Joan Lapointe, he is survived by nine children: Karen of Hamilton, ON Susan and Norma, both of Dartmouth, NS Danny (Nathalie Thibodeau) of Saint John Barry (Beth Davidson), Maureen (Robert Payne), Roddy, Paula (Billy Knowles), Ann (Rick McLean, all of Bathurst Six grandchildren; Bill, Gregory, Riley, Scott, Robyn and Cameron. One brother: Kenny Hachey (Thérèse) of Bathurst Two sisters: Vera Hussey and Joyce Daigle, both of Bathurst Several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by an infant son, Gary, sister Gloria Lavigne and a brother, Louis. Guy was a tireless supporter of the Boy Scout movement, both at the local and provincial levels. He served as both District Scout Master and District Scout Commissioner and was awarded a certificate and pin for 50 years of dedication in 2005. He received the Silver Acorn and Silver Moose Awards for his service to Scouting in 1990. He was a recipient of a Volunteer Recognition Award from the City of Bathurst in 1991 and a Paul Harris Fellowship from the Bathurst Rotary Club in 1999. He was an active member of Holy Family Parish. He loved music and was a onetime member of the Holy Family Parish Choir. Guy was employed with Canadian National Railway for 40 years, retiring in 1980. He retired fro his second career as a sales representative for Atlantic Lottery Corporation in 1985. The body will rest after 2:00 p.m. Monday at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday afternoon (February 7, 2006) at 2:00 p.m. from Holy Family Church, St. Peter Ave. Burial will be in the parish cemetery in the spring. Visiting hours are Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 and Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. until time of Funeral.
