Bathurst – It is with great sadness we, the family, announce the passing of Deborah Elhatton, of Youghall Dr., Bathurst, wife of Brent Roy which occurred at the Chaleur Regional Hospital on Monday August 12th, 2024, at the age of 63.

Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Gerry and Rolla (Blackmore) Elhatton.

Deborah was a retired Federal Government employee, spending much of her retirement with her horses. Although quiet and reserved, she loved an adrenaline rush in the saddle. Whether running barrels for top prize, or with her daughters in the neighbor’s hay field, she was always on the lead horse. She found great joy in her pets, of which over the years there were many (mostly unannounced to the rest of the family!). In recent years, she found peace walking the Youghall Trail, feeding chickadees with Donna. Deb was never one to impress others, always staying true to herself, no matter who was watching.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters: Kayelani Roy and Shannon Roy both of Bathurst, and her little dog, Ridley.

One brother, Fred Elhatton (Paula) of Bathurst. Two sisters: Nancie Mastrangelo (Ralph) of Markham, ON and Maureen Elhatton (Dave Lake) of Edmonton, AB.

Her mother-in-law, Grace Roy (Leonard) of Bathurst and sister-in-law, Pauline (Roger) DaNova of Stittsville, ON.

Several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express immense gratitude to Dr. Marie-Andrée Arsenault and numerous staff in the various wings of Chaleur Regional Hospital for their care, professionalism, and compassion for Deb. A special thank you to Donna, Sherri, and Barbara for their care along her journey.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Donations in memory of Deborah may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Bathurst SPCA, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
