Bathurst – It is with great sadness we, the family, announce the passing of Lawrence “Larry” Christie, of Franklin Ave., Bathurst which occurred on Friday, January 17, 2025, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst at the age of 92.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late William and Adelina (Chiasson) Christie.
He is survived by his spouse Delima “Del” Poirier; two daughters: Debbie Lawrence (late Mark Lawrence) and Wendy Christie (Troy Clayton).
Three step-children, Diane Imbeault (Mark Schmidt) of Halifax, Robert Imbeault of Kamloops and Gerald Imbreault of Moncton.
His grandchildren David, Brendan, Christie, Anahid and Nora; and a step grandson Briley and great grandchildren; Greyson, Walker, Maeve, Caroline and Mark.
One brother, Emile (Nicole) and one sister, Lorraine Doucet both of Bathurst as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters: Mayda, Dora, Albina, Anita and Eva and brothers: Gilbert, Allie, Kenneth, Leonard, Aurele, Vincent, William Jr., Alban and Raymond.
Even through years of health challenges, Larry always managed to make us laugh especially through his storytelling. He will be remembered for his love of music, (especially the piano), nature, animals and gatherings with friends and family.
We are grateful to the friends and family who supported us during his illness and at the time of his death as well as to Southern Comfort Villa, the Extra-Mural, Dr. Boudreau and Dr. Godin and the staff at Palliative Care.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home or funeral service.
