With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of (Stephen) Kent Branch at the age of 73, a truly remarkable man whose warmth and unwavering kindness touched everyone blessed enough to know him.
Born in Bathurst, Kent was the son of Richard Branch and Loretta (Whelton) Branch of Big River. He was predeceased by his brother Frank and sister-in-law Karen and is survived by sisters Patricia Brown (late Rod) and Lois Branch of London, Ontario, Warrine Parks (David) of Upper Derby, sister-in-law Veronica Ratchford (late David) of Bedford, Nova Scotia, and several nieces and nephews.
Kent was a devoted husband, a proud father, a beloved grandfather and a cherished friend. He was the loving father of Stephen and Monica, the adoring “Grampy” to Mitchell and father-in-law to Michael Allen roles he cherished with his whole heart.
But Kent’s greatest joy in life was his soulmate, Debbie. Their love story was the kind most only dream of. A lifelong devotion, their marriage was built on laughter, adventure, and unshakable love. Together, they created a life filled with joy, summers at the cottage, and countless journeys shared side by side.
Kent had a heart as big as his smile. Always the first to lend a helping hand, he lived his life with generosity and grace. He had a sharp wit, a love of jokes, and a twinkle in his eye that made every conversation brighter. A true gentleman in every sense, Kent had an ease about him that made people feel instantly welcome.
He had a passion for music and his knowledge of music trivia was unmatched. Whether sharing stories, travelling with Debbie, or laughing with friends, Kent leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness and he will be missed more than words can express.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. A funeral mass will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 30th, at the Sacred Heart Cathedral.
Donations in memory of Kent can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the local food bank. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com) in Bathurst.
