Géraldine (Roussel) Arseneau, 89, wife of the late Emile Arseneau of King Avenue, passed away Saturday (January 12th, 2008) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, following a brief illness.
Born in Tracadie, she was the daughter of the late Lazare Roussel, former chief of police of Bathurst and Mary Jane Robichaud.
She will be best remembered as the ''Lady with the cheery, friendly greeting for everyone she cashed cheques and wrote receipts for during the 46 years of service with W.J. Kent & Company’’.
Her favorite pastime was baking and cooking and she always relished the opportunity to share her fine cuisine with family and friends.
She was a devoted church member and was guided by her strong faith and religious beliefs. She was also a lifetime member of the CWL.
She is survived by:
Two daughters;
Marie Claire Arseneau of Halifax NS
Twinksy Mallet (Clayton) of Rimouski QC
Two grandsons who were the ''Joy of her life''
Christian and
Michel both of Montreal.
Four sisters;
Alice Lavigne of Bathurst,
Rita Léger (Flavien) of Tracadie,
Lorraine Boudreau of Fredericton,
Theresa Harrison of Dorchester ON
Three brothers;
Alfred of St. Quentin,
Augustin ''Gus'' (Yvonne) of Moncton and
Harvey (Laurette) of Bathurst.
And several nieces and nephews.
She is also pre-deceased by a brother; Omer (Dorina) Roussel and a sister; Albertine (Eugene) Bourque.
The body will be rest at Elhatton's Funeral Home, Friday (January 18, 2008) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
Funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday (January 19th 2008) at 11:00 from Sacred Heart Cathedral.
