The family wishes to announce the passing of Opal Mary White (née Aubé), on May 6th, 2008 at Chaleur Regional Hospital, following a brief illness. Opal was born in Beresford, NB on April 4, 1922, the daughter of Wilbrod Aubé and Josephine Doucet. She grew up in Beresford and moved to Bathurst after her marriage to the late J. Clifford White.
She is the mother of six children. After her youngest child started school, Opal entered the workforce. She was employed with Joe Watson’s Grocery, after which she worked at Stella’s Hat Shop until retirement. She was a volunteer canvasser for numerous charities. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Knights of Columbus; a founding member of Club 200 and a 60+ year member of Holy Family Council, CWL. She cherished time with her family and in later years, playing cards with a special group of friends.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children:

Roland (Gail), Bathurst,
Gerry Sloan (Stephen), Burlington, ON
Rodney (Rusty) White of Halifax and
Carolyn White (Bill Goss) of Fredericton.
Also left to cherish her memory are son-in-law:
Cecil Wilson (Linda) of Waterville, NS.
Thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren.
One brother; Edmond (Dorine) of Beresford.
Sisters-in-law;
Helen Comeau,
Eva MacDougall.
And numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by: A daughter; Sandra Wilson, step great granddaughter: Erica O’Neil, five brothers; Edgar, John, Ernest, Albert; Sam and three sisters; Mae Lewis White, Sr. Imelda and Sr.Ernestine (CND).
Her remains are resting at Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), with visitation Wednesday, May 7th from 7:00 – 9:00PM and Thursday from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 7:00 – 9:00.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 9th at 11:00AM at Holy Family Church, Bathurst.
In memory of Opal, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Palliative Care Unit, Chaleur Regional Hospital, Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of choice would be greatly appreciated.
