Bathurst, on Mother’s Day, May 11, 2008 Agnes (Burns) Couture wife of Albain Couture of Helen St., Bathurst, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Chaleur Regional Hospital at the age of 82.
Born in Glasgow, Scotland on May 27th, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Eliza Burns and the late William Jones.
Agnes came to Canada as a War Bride. She was also a big fan of Bingo.
Besides her husband Albain, she is survived by;
4 daughters,
Eliza (Alvin) Landry,
Lucille (Armand) Couture,
Ann Marie (Ray) Thibault and
Mary Jean Couture, all of Bathurst.
Six sons,
Joe (Shelva) Couture,
Gary (Patsy) Couture,
Michael (Helen) Couture,
Derek Couture, all of Bathurst
Billy (Paulette) Couture of Riverview, NB
Wilfred (Maria) Couture of Dieppe, NB
22 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren
She is also survived by one sister Rosie McFarlane and one sister-in-law Ellen Jones both of Glasgow Scotland. Also, one brother-in-law, Clifford Couture of Bathurst. Many nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by one son David, and a brother Sonny.
There will be no visiting at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, 16th May 2008 from the Sacred Heart Cathedral, St. Andrew Street, Bathurst at 11:00 am. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in East Bathurst.
