It is with sadness that the family of Marie Blanche Picot (née Marie Blanche Roussel) announce her death which occurred on June 1st at the Villa Providence in Shediac.
Born on January 31, 1908, the eldest daughter of Frederic Roussel and Josephine Comeau.
She spent most of her life in Bathurst. She first lived on Murray Avenue with her parents, and after her marriage to Philip Picot in 1935, she moved to St Peter Avenue, West Bathurst.
Prior to her marriage she worked briefly as a secretary with the Eddy Company in Rimouski, and at 20 she was appointed to the ministerial staff of Canada's Post Master General in Ottawa.
After her marriage she worked part time in the family business.
She was known for her excellent swing style piano playing and frequently accompanied sing-songs.
She celebrated her 100th birthday with family and friends in February 2008
at the Villa Providence.
She is pre-deceased by her husband, Philip Picot to
whom she was married for 43 years. In 1981, she married her second
husband, Ernest Picot, who died 8 years later.
She is also pre-deceased by: Two sisters; Leona (Sister Mary Frederick, CND), and Alice (Gaudet). One brother; Armand.
She is survived by:
One sibling; Jill (Theodore Doucet),Richmond, Virginia.
4 children;
Eric (Francine Bilodeau), Shediac,
Yvon (Anne Marie Doucet), Calgary,
Jocelyne (Adam Clark), Montreal and
Marc (Wendie Atkinson), Shediac.
10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at Holy Family Church on St Peter Avenue on
Thursday June 5th at 11 AM. Visitation will be held at Elhatton funeral Home (www.elhatton.com) Bathurst, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM on Wednesday and Thursday from 9:30 am until time of funeral. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to a charity of choice.
