Edgar Lavigne, 66, of Côte Bleu Drive, Bathurst, which occurred Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, after a lengthy illness.
He worked at The Royal Canadian Legion for over 30 years as chief steward.
He was a member of the Herman J. Good VC Br. 18 also a member at the Squire Green Golf Club.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of late Adelard and Sarah (Cyr) Lavigne.
Beside his wife; Barbara (Young), he is survived by:
One son;
Darryl (Terri) of Brampton, Ont.
Two daughters;
Kim (Danny) Henry of South Tetagouche,
Shelley Lavigne (Fernand) of St. Anne, Gloucester.
Four brothers;
Cyr Lavigne (Sylvia),
Gérald Lavigne (Faye),
Vaughan Lavigne (Velma), all of Bathurst,
Ken Lavigne (Dorothy) of Medecine Hat, Alb.
Two sisters;
Patricia Gallant (Floyd) of Bathurst,
Diane Adams (Clayton) of Medecine Hat, Alb.
4 grandchildren; Chad, Kelsy, Brandon and Heidi.
Several nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by his daughter; Donna and brothers; Denis and Robert.
The body will rest at Elhatton Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst, Thursday June 12, 2008 after 7:00 to 9:00 and Friday, June 13, 2008 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 and Saturday June 14, 2008 from 9:00 until time of funeral
The funeral mass will be celebrate Saturday, June 14, 2008 at 11:00 from the Holy Family church.
The burial will be in the parish cemetery.
In memory of Edgar, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
