September 26, 2008, the death of Marianne Schwarz occurred at Chaleur Regional Hospital following a brief illness at the age of 84.
Born in Fribourg, Switzerland, daughter of the late Martha Sommer and Fritz Schwarz.
Marianne resided in Beresford since 1972.
Predeceased by sisters; Anne-Marie, Elizabeth, Gertrude and brothers; Rudolf and Frederic.
She leaves behind several nieces and nephews in Switzerland and many friends in Canada.
Well known in the Health Care environment Ms Schwarz was the Director of Nursing at the Chaleur Regional Hospital from 1972 -1987, after studying and working in Toronto.
Many will remember her as the owner of Poplars Bed and Breakfast in Beresford and for her work as President of Chaleur Tourism Association.
She was also well known around the province as a Bee Keeper and was an inspector in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture.
Marianne loved to read and spoke 5 languages, learning Spanish in recent years. She also traveled extensively.
A celebration of her life will be held at Elhattons Chapel, 187 St-George Street, Bathurst on Friday Oct 3 at 7 pm. Everyone is welcome.
