Janeville – Alfred Leon “Freddy The Bear” Dempsey, 53, of Janeville, passed away on Thursday (October 23, 2008), at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a brief illness.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of Benson Dempsey and the late Evelyn (McKinnon) Dempsey.
He worked for the former Consolidated Bathurst Paper Mill.
Besides his father Benson of Bathurst, he is survived by:
Three sons:
Matthew,
Rocky and
Tyler, all of Janeville
One daughter:
Mindy Dempsey of Janeville
The mother of his children, Darlene Daley of Fort McMurray, AB.
One grandson; Connor
Three brothers:
Arthur Dempsey (Carmen) of Pokeshaw
Lawrence Dempsey (Linda) of Salmon Beach
Wilfred Dempsey (Kathy) of Janeville
Four sisters:
Barbara Carroll,
Inez Clory (Joey) and
Alma MacQuillan (Denis), all of Georgetown, PEI
Amelia Dempsey of Stonehaven
Several nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by his mother; Evelyn in 1999 and a brother; Alton in 2004.
The body will rest after 2 p.m. Friday at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday afternoon (October 25, 2008) at 2:00 p.m. from the Central United Church, Clifton. Burial will be in the Highland View Cemetery, Bridge St. Visiting hours are Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
