HENDRINA (Rinie) Van Omme … BOSCA, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on December 4th, 2008 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, NB.
Born in 1924 in Arnhem, Holland, she was the daughter of late Jacobus Van Omme and Hermina Alderkamp and step-daughter of Andries De Vaal.
Predeceased by husband, Mario Bosca and brother, Henny Van Omme, she is survived by her two daughters Severina (Karl Gunderson) of West Palm Beach, Florida and Silvana (Andy LeBlanc) of Bathurst, and one son, Vittorio (Sheila) of Bathurst; grandchildren: Rob, Richard, Rayme, Samantha, Santina, JP and Shawn and 2 great grandchildren, Vito and Berto and a sister-n-law Toni VanOmme (Perth, Australia) and several nephews and nieces.
A life member of the Girl Guides of Canada, Rinie was instrumental in starting the guiding movement in East Bathurst in the 1950’s and was well known as the District’s Camp advisor for many years. She was also a past president and a 60-year member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion, a member of the CWL and a volunteer with the Bathurst Hospitality Days throughout the 70’s.
Although challenged with Parkinson’s disease for almost 30 years, Rinie was an avid sports enthusiast, who loved curling, swimming and tennis. In fact, she played tennis until the age of 77. With this in mind, donations in memory of Renie can be made to

A special thank-you to her wonderful caregivers who, over the last 9 years, made living in her home possible and enjoyable to the very end: Carol, Jeannette, Rachel, Mary, Nancy, Brenda, Debbie, Liza, Serena and Anna.
Visitation will on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst, with a mass to celebrate Rinie’s life on Monday December 8, 2008, at 2 pm at the Sacred Heart Cathedral, Bathurst. Internment will be in the Mount Carmel Parish Cemetery.
