Bathurst- Kenneth Ellis Hunter, loving husband of the late Betty Lou (Rodgers) Hunter of Woodland Drive in Bathurst, passed away suddenly at his home on Tuesday 13th January 2009 at the age of 75.
Born in Hayesville, York County, NB, he was the son of the late Blair Sr. and Flora (Hinchey) Hunter.
Ken worked in the mining industry all his life having worked in various mines in Ontario, Heath Steele Mines and Brunswick Mines until his retirement. He was an avid outdoor person who knew his second home was the woods, the water, his gardens and the sky, where he used to fly his own plane for many years. He kept everyone happy with his cooking and baking, and could always be counted on if you needed a cup of tea and a piece of his special pies. Ken was also a member of the First United Church in Bathurst.
Ken is survived by;
one son, Barry (Carolle) of Timmins, Ont; one daughter, Shirley (Robert) Vienneau of Bathurst.
He was the very special grandfather of his beloved twins Mandie and Chad.
He is also survived by his stepmother Mary Hunter and his stepsister, Evidine (Calvin) Calhoun, all of Haynesville, NB
Ken was predeceased by his brothers; Ashley, Jimmy and Blair Jr.
The body will rest at Elhatton Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), 187 St. George St., in Bathurst after 2 p.m. on Friday 16th January 2009. The funeral service will be held from the First United Church, St. Patrick St., in Bathurst on Saturday 17th January 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at the Spruce Grove Union Cemetery on Bridge St., in Bathurst later this spring. In memory of Ken, Donations maybe made to the Canadian Kidney Foundation or a charity of the donor's choice.
Visiting hours are: Friday 16th January 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
