Bathurst – It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Donald Eddy Spragg, of Bayview Court in Bathurst, NB, who passed away at the Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst on Friday 23 January 2009 at the age of 75.
Born in Saint John, NB, Don was the youngest son of five children to the late Ira Leigh and Avalena (Eddy) Spragg .
Besides his wife of Edna (Scott) Spragg, Don is survived by:

Dave (late Debbie Hartigan) Spragg of Grande Prairie, AB
1 daughter,
Sharon (Peter) Crowther of Fredericton, NB
His grand children: Shane, Sierra, Colin, Lisa, Mark, Kayla, Ryan, Aaron, Brandon and Justin.
Also his great grandchildren; Carter, Andrew, Emily, Mallory, Ava and Avery.

Many nieces and nephews.
His brothers; Clifford, Harold and Walter predeceased him.
Don worked in various capacities throughout his life including employment at Laparelle, City Police Force, Imperial Oil Ltd. as well as being employed at CNR and Doucet’s Landscaping. Don was well known in the 1950’s for his outstanding abilities in the Boxing Ring. In 1994 he was inducted into the Bathurst Sports Hall of Fame, receiving the Player Award. His quick wit, sense of adventure and willingness to lend a helping hand, were traits he was well known and appreciated for. He was deeply proud of his entire family and will be forever missed by all who knew him.
The body will rest after 2:00 p.m. at Elhatton Funeral Home, 187 St. George St., in Bathurst on Sunday 25 January 2009. Funeral service will be held from the First United Church in Bathurst on Monday 26 January 2009 at 3:00 P.M. Burial will be in the Spring. In memory of Don, donations to the Canadian Heart and Stroke, the Canadian Kidney Foundations or a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated. Visiting hours are Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
