South Tetagouche - Vaughn Abernethy, 82, of South Tetagouche, passed away on Saturday (April 4, 2009), at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a brief illness.
Born in Durham Bridge, he was the son of the late Merlin and Helen (Grant) Abernethy.
He worked for the former Consolidated Bathurst Paper Mill for over 40 years. He was a member of the Masonic Order Lodge Saint John F&AM #27, Bathurst.
Vaughn will be sadly missed by his wife of 60 years, Gertrude (Wood) Abernethy, and his five children:

Susan Audet (Alfred) of South Tetagouche
John (Ina) of South Tetagouche
Sharon Savory (Wayne) of Toronto, ON
Sandy Flanagan (Tom) of Jacquet River, NB
Two sisters:

Jackie Stewart (Norman) Fredericton
One brother:
Ted Abernethy (Audrey) of Boiestown
10 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday afternoon (April 8, 2009) at 4 p.m. from Elhatton's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rodrick Black officiating. Donations in memory of Vaughn may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Palliative Care Unit of the Chaleur Regional Hospital Foundation or a favorite charity.
