Remembering the sense of humour and his love of tinkering in his workshop, it is with great sadness the family announce the passing of Donald Joseph Aube, of Meadow Ave, Bathurst, which occurred on Sunday (May 10, 2009) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, at the age of 82.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Leo J. and Lea (Landry) Aube.
Donald was the beloved husband of Ruth (Anderson) and a wonderful dad for Carl (Debbie), Chris (Nancy) and Susan Aube (Jean Guignard), all of Bathurst, and of Sterling (Grace) of Toronto, ON.
Also survived by four grandchildren; Sherri Ann, Matthew, Ryan and Rene, three sisters; Isabelle White (late Bernie), Carmel McGinnis (Paddy) and Jeannine Blanchard (late Valmond), all of Bathurst, and Mabel Moore (late Larry) of Ontario.
He was pre-deceased by an infant brother; Carl William.
He was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Herman J. Good, V.C. Br. 18, Royal Canadian Legion, Bathurst. He worked as a millwright for 38 years at the former Consolidated Bathurst Paper Mill. He spent his retirement years devoted to his family and his workshop. He faced with great dignity and patience many illnesses for the last number of years.
The body will rest after 2 p.m. Tuesday at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday (May 13, 2009) at 11 a.m. from the Sacred Heart Cathedral, St. Andrew St., Bathurst. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until time of Funeral. A Legion service will be held from the Funeral Home on Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m.
