BATHURST – It is with great sadness that the Basque family wishes to announce the passing of their mother, Edna Basque, wife of the late David Basque at the age of 87, on Monday, May 11, 2009 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital surrounded by her family. Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Joséphine (Chamberlain) Vienneau. She is survived by three sons: Réginald (Yvonne) of Rough Waters, Jean-Guy (Muriel) of Clifton, Charles (Beatrice) of Rough Waters; six daughters: Jeannine (Walter) of Sault Ste Marie, ON, Angela (Louis), Carmella, Claudia (Robert) of Rough Waters, Annette (David) of Moncton and Stella (François) of Ottawa, ON, daughter-in-law: Bernice (David Jr.) of Big River Road; one brother: Gerald of South Tetagouche; five sisters: Yvonne (Rodrigue) of Montreal, Léona (Gordon), Alice (Wilfred) both of Rough Waters, Patricia (Albert), Priscilla (Albert) both of Petit-Rocher and 22 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by a son, David (Jr.), daughter, Emma, sister Macrina and brother Lloyd.
The body will rest from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2009 at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Friday morning from 9 followed by Funeral Mass which will be celebrated on Friday, May 15, 2009 at 11 a.m. from the Sacred Heart Cathedral, St. Andrew St., Bathurst.
