Bathurst – Mrs. Lyla Elaine Gallagher, 75, wife of the late Leo Gallagher, of Mount Carmel St., Bathurst, passed away on Saturday (May 30, 2009) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a brief illness. Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Jennie (Murray) Ramsay. Lyla worked at the former W.J. Kent & Co. Ltd. For 41 years and was a member of the Ladies Auxillary of the Herman J. Good, V.C. Br. 18, Royal Canadian Legion and the United Church Women’s Group. She is survived by: One daughter: Janet Russell (John) of Bathurst Two granddaughters: Jennie & Jessica and their older sisters; Shawna & Lisa. One brother: Marvin Ramsay (late Bessie) of Bathurst Two sisters: Empress Thompson (Herman) of Trenton, ON Irma Graham (Donnie) of Havelock, ON A special niece; Debbie Roy. She will be sadly missed by sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews She was pre-deceased by an infant son; Norman and a sister; Louella Coollen. The body will rest after 2 p.m. Tuesday at Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday (June 3, 2009) at 2 p.m. from the First United Church, St. Patrick St., Bathurst. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Donations in memory of Lyla may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the First United Church or a favorite charity.
