Bathurst - George Roy, 70, of Duncan St., Bathurst, passed away on Friday (July 24, 2009) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Richard and Martha Roy. He worked as a sales representative for Vachon for most of his life. He was a member of the Holy Family Msgr. William Varrily, Council 12031 Knights of Columbus, member of the Hermand J. Good V.C. Br. 18, Royal Canadian Legion and was an active volunteer of Holy Family Church, Bathurst. Besides his wife, Yvette (Boudreau) Roy, he is survived by: Two sons: Daniel (Linda) of Beresford Donald of Whitecourt, AB One daughter: Lisa Roy (Jerry Leet) of Whitecourt, AB One brother: Richard (Diane) of Middle River One granddaughter; Madison Several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by an infant son; Ronald. The body will rest after 2 p.m. Tuesday at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday morning (July 29, 2009) at 11 a.m. from Holy Family Church, Bathurst. Visiting hour are Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until time of Funeral. Donations in memory of George may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a favorite charity.
