Leo Howell born in Sandy Beach, Gaspé, Qc in 1923, at the age of 85 years, passed away peacefully at the Robert L. Knowles Veteran Unit in Bathurst on Wednesday August 26, 2009, surrounded by family.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years; Simone (Plourde)Howell.
Four daughters;
Gail Godin (Helen),
Donna Dobson (David),
Pauline Chamberlain (Claude) all of Bathurst and
Louise Mercier (Gerald) of Calgary.
Pappy will be sadly missed by his six grandchildren;
Lori and Peter Godin,
Melissa and Erica Chamberlain,
Matthew and Nathan Mercier.
Two great-grandchildren;
Tristan and Hailey.
Son-in-law;
William Godin.
Sister;
Edna Rooney of Thunder Bay, Ont.
Many nieces and nephews.
A long-time employee of Brunswick Mines, Leo will be remembered as an avid outdoors men and a lover of nature with the gift of gab.
He enjoyed his grandchildren immensely and was dedicated to teaching them all he knew.
The family sends along their utmost gratitude to the amazing staff at the Robert L. Knowles Veterans Unit for their outstanding care and support.
Visitations will be held at Elhattons Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com) Bathurst, on Friday, August 28, 2009 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, August 29, 2009 at 11:00 am at Elhatton's Funeral Home Chapel.
