Canobie … George Raymond Glendenning, 76, of Canobie, passed away at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, on Sunday (August 30, 2009).
Born in Canobie July 15, 1933, he was the son of the late Raymond and Hilda (Ellis) Glendenning.
George worked at Brunswick Mining and Smelting from where he retired in 1991. He was a member of the company’s Quarter Century Club. He was and active member of the Chaleur Evening Stars.
He is survived by Alma (Knowles), his wife of 52 years.
Two sons:
Danny (Valerie) and
Jay (Kim) both of Canobie
Grandchildren; Robyn, Jayme, Geri, Scott and Kaylie.
Four sisters:
Ada Scott (late Kenneth) of Bathurst
Ruby Borland (Robert) of Key West, Florida
Frances "Fran" Daley (Elmer) of Bathurst
Margaret "Peg" Peters of Bathurst
Several nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by his parents, Raymond and Hilda (Ellis) Glendenning; four sisters, Alice, Muriel, Shirley and Patricia; and four brothers, Stern, Gordon, Guy and Marson.
The body will rest after 2 p.m. Tuesday at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday afternoon (September 2, 2009) at 2:00 p.m. from the Central United Church, Clifton. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
