Gilles 'Gil' Cormier, 71, of Beresford and formerly of Bathurst, died Friday (April 9, 2004) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a brief illness. Born in St. Leonard, he was the son of the late Ernest and Leda (Dubé) Cormier. He was a retired foreman from Brunswick Mines and was a member of the company's Quarter Century Club. He was a member of the Herman J. Good, V.C. Br. 18, Royal Canadian Legion, Bathurst. He was pre-deceased by his first wife, the former Joan Dennis. He is survived by his wife, the former Viola Hadley. 2 Sons: Brent Cormier (Sherry) and Bradley Cormier (Natalie) both of Edmonton, AB 2 Daughters: Leslie Ross (Alfred) of North Tetagouche, NB Sharon Blanchard (Neil) of Quispamsiss, NB 2 Step-sons: Gerry Pelletier (Huguette) of Beresford, NB Marc Pelletier (Suzanne) of Fredericton, NB 1 Brother: Albert Cormier (Germaine) of Sussex, NB 4 Sisters: Laura Reynolds of Miramichi, NB Evelyn Albert (Dave) of Woodstock, ON Rachel Gray (Phil) of London, ON Rita Goodine of Plaster Rock, NB 9 Grandchildren, Melanie, Monica, Brandon, Cory, Sophie, Sara, Justin, Erin, Eric and 1 great-granddaughter, Madison. Several nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday afternoon (April 12, 2004) at 2:00 p.m. from Holy Family Church, St. Peter Ave., Bathurst. Burial will be in the parish cemetery, later in the spring. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton's Funeral Home, Bathurst.
