BATHURST … It is with great sorrow that we the family wish to announce the death of Angela Godin, which occurred Saturday (January 2, 2010) surrounded by her sisters at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, at the age of 60.
Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Marie-Anna (Landry) Godin.
She is survived by her three sisters: Annette Boucher (Rodney), Monique Babineau (Paul) and Claudette Couture (Marc Gagnon), all of Bathurst; her nieces and nephews who loved her dearly: Nicolas Boucher, Isabelle Couture, Sébastien Couture, René Babineau (Chantal) and Marc Babineau (Sylvie); two great-nieces; Zoé and Joëlle, also by her uncles, aunts and numerous cousins in the Péninsule and across the country, who loved her dearly.
Born with Downs Syndrome, she was very special to all her family, neighbors, friends and also by the family of Alphée and Jeanne Mance Valcourt, their daughter Mylaine and all her friends at the Maison Valcourt of LaPlante where she resided for the last 15 years.
Angela loved life. At the age of 10, she attended the first class in Bathurst area for the handicapped, held in Big River and later at the Flowers of Hope, at NBCC, Youghall Dr., Bathurst. As an adult, she attended for many years the Best Group (Work Shop) at the former Bass River School. In 1971, she participated at the Special Olympic in Toronto with the Flowers of Hope School. During the last 12 years, she attended “l’Atelier Edouard Roy” in Petit-Rocher, where she participated in many activities, including Bowling which she loved.
Angela loved family gatherings, her many friends, traveling and music. Everyone who had a chance to meet Angela, were touched by her presence, her big heart, her humour and her unconditional love.
Besides her parents, she was pre-deceased by a brother; Gérard, and infant brother; Maurice, several uncles and aunts.
The body is resting at Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday (January 5, 2009) at 2 p.m. from the Sacred Heart Cathedral, St. Andrew St., Bathurst.
Visiting hours were Monday and Tuesday from noon until time of Funeral.
