Saint Laurent, NB - It is with great sadness that the Squires family announces the sudden passing of their mother, Mary Ann Whiteway, 66, of Saint Laurent, NB, which occurred Wednesday (May 12, 2010) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst.
Born in Job's Cove, NF, she was the daughter of the late John Thomas and Annie Maude (Pottle) Whiteway.
She is survived by her two children, son; James Jr. Squires (Darlene Hickey) of North Tetagouche, NB and daughter; Lisa Stacey (Paul) of Edmonton, AB.
Mary is also survived by her two sisters; Deloris Sheppard (Lorne) of Small Point, NF and Virena Whiteway of St. John's, NF., Grandson Michael Hickey (Danielle) of Timberlea, NS and several nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by son; William Craig Squires.
Mary was a wonderful seamstress and avid gardener all her life. Mom, you will be dearly missed.
There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday afternoon (May 15, 2010) at 2 p.m. from Elhatton's Funeral Home Chapel, St. George St., Bathurst, with Rev. Blair Lewis officiating. Donations in memory of Mary may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a favorite charity. Burial will be in Newfoundland at a later date.
