Born in Rivière du Loup, QC, he was the son of the late Onésiphore Chénard and Darilda Marquis and was the second youngest of 12 children.
He served his country in World War II. He worked for many years for Canada Post in Montreal, from which he has been retired for 24 years. Roger was a multi-talented man who was more then willing to share his knowledge with others. Roger took pleasure in camping, sailing, fishing, music, he was an avid reader, a seasoned traveller and enjoyed watching nature shows and was a lifetime learner.
He was a member of the Central United Church in Clifton, a choir member and a member of Canada Post Heritage Club.
Roger was married to Frances Buttimer, formerly of Salmon Beach, NB for 46 years until her death in 1991. Following her death, he moved to Salmon Beach in 1993 and married Margaret Payne in 1994.

Visitations will start on Wednesday at 2 p.m. from Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday evening (May 27, 2010) at 7 p.m. from Central United Church, Clifton. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 and Thursday from 2 to 4. Burial will be in the Spruce Grove Union Cemetery, Bathurst.
