Benson Dempsey - of the Foyer Notre Dame de Lourdes, Bathurst and formerly of Stonehaven, passed away on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital at the age of 85.
 
Born in Stonehaven he was the son of the late Orville and Mary (Mini) (Dempsey) Dempsey.
He worked at Stone Consolidated.
He is survived by:  Three sons:  Lawrence (Linda) of Salmon Beach, Arthur (Carmen) of Pokeshaw, Wilfred (Kathy) of Janeville.  Four daughters; Barbara Carroll, Inez Clory (Joey), Alma McQuillen (Dennis) all of Georgetown, P.E.I. and Amelia Dempsey (Roméo Cormier) of Bathurst.
22 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
One sister; Bernatta Trenholm (late Eugene) of Oshawa, ON
He was predeceased by his first wife Evelyn in 1989 and his second wife Reta in 1999, two sons; Alton, Alfred and an infant daughter Elva, brother, Thomas and sisters, Phyllis Wiseman, Mazy Grennan.
 
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 15, 2010 from 7-9 PM at Elhatton Funeral Home, 187 St.George St., Bathurst and 2 PM Saturday at the chapel until time of funeral. (www.elhatton.com)  Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 3 PM from the funeral home chapel.  Burial will be held in the Highland View Cemetery.   Donations in memory of Benson may be made to a charity of choice.
