Pointe-Verte – Mrs. Evangeline Chiasson, of Foyer Carole, Pointe-Verte, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on December 2, 2010, at her residence at the age of 97.
Born in Nash Creek, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Albina (Fournier) Landry.
She is survived by a son; Ernest (Jocelyn Verrett) of Edmonton, AB, a daughter; Annette Cameron (Sandy) of Darthmouth, NS, a daughter-in-law; Claudette Fletcher of Montreal, QC. Grandchildren; Martine, Pierre, Renée, Mélanie, Lucien and four great-grandchildren. Four sisters; Mary Landry of Vancouver, Corinne Palser of Moncton, Adeline Flannigan (Ralph) of Jacquet River, Doris Beers of Dartmouth, NS, and many nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, Camille Chiasson, a son; Charles, brothers; Arthur, Hector, Edgar and a sister; Antoinette Landry.
Evangeline was active member of her community being a founding member of the Club de l’âge d’Or in Pointe-Verte and served as Church organist at St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Pointe-Verte for many years. She was an avid gardener, painter, who loved to play cards, swim and fish in the Baie de Chaleur.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday (December 10, 2010) at 4 p.m. from Eglise St. Vincent de Paul Church, Pointe-Verte, where the family will receive relatives and friends one hour prior to the service. Donations in memory of Evangeline may be made to a charity of the donors choice. Arrangements are in the care of Heritage Funeral Home (www.heritage.com), Beresford.
