Bathurst - Mrs. Ida Smith, 56, wife of Dale Smith, of Little River Dr., Bathurst, died Thursday (June 17, 2004) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Bathurst, she was daughter of the Jeanne (Gionet) Arseneau and the late Arthur Arseneau. She was a retired schoolteacher, loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her passions included kayaking and exploring nature. Besides her husband and her mother of Bathurst, she is survived by: Two sons: Shawn Smith (Keri) and Jimmy Dale Smith, both of Calgary, AB Three brothers: Jerry Arseneau (Janet) of Green Point, NB Alfred Arseneau (Claire) of Bathurst André Arseneau (Renée) of Calgary, AB Seven sisters: Anne Marie Hachey (Michael) of Beresford Yvette Lavigne (Billy), Jeannine Wessenberg (Frederick), Lillian Fournier, Alice Arseneau (Ronald Gallant)and Therese Ouellette (Jacques) all of Bathurst Priscilla Gatton (Dino) of New Maryland, NB One granddaughter, Madison. Several nieces and nephews. The body is resting at Elhatton's Funeral Home, Bathurst. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday morning (June 19, 2004) at 11:00 a.m. from St. Theresa Church, South Bathurst.
