Bathurst – Paul Blanchard, 48, of Grandview St., Bathurst, passed away on Tuesday (January 10, 2012), surrounded by his loving family at the Palliative Care Unit of the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of Arnold and Claudette (Goggin) Blanchard.
Paul and his wife owned and operated several Day Care facilities in Bathurst and also was employed with New Brunswick Departement of Transportaion.
Besides his parents of Bathurst, Paul is survived by his loving wife, Lucie (Raymond) Blanchard, one daughter, Kayla of Moncton, one son, Kyle of Bathurst; a sister, Anne (John Mann) of Middle River and a brother, André (Cindy Rogers Doucet) of Bathurst. His mother-in-law, Nola Ouellet (Arsène Duguay) of Bathurst, father-in-law, Gérard Raymond (Valentine Gionet) of Bathurst. Sisters-in-law, Francine Raymond-Melanson (Ron Melanson) of Dieppe, Carole Raymond (Ronald Comeau) of Tracadie-Sheila, France Raymond-Martin of South Tatagouche. Two nephews, Harley Mann and Alex Melanson.
Paul will also be missed by his aunts and uncles ; Wilfred Goggin (Elizabeth), Gérald Blanchard (Yvonne), Marguerite Cameron, Lorraine (Albert Arseneault), Pricilla (Lionel Frenette), Claudette (Wayne Loupelle), Ernest Blanchard (Rose), Stanilas Blanchard and Lionel Blanchard (Julienne).
Paul joins his brother-in-law, Robert « Bobby » Martin who passed away September 2 of last year.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday morning (January 14, 2012) at 11 a.m. from Our Lady of the Rosary Church, St. Peter Ave., Bathurst.
Donations in memory of Paul, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a favorite charity.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of the Palliative Care Unit of the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, for their excellent care given to Paul and to Dr. Richard and the other doctors who contributed to the well being of Paul during his illness.
