Bathurst – Hilaire Poirier, 89, husband of Mildred (Pitre) Doucet, of Bathurst and formerly of Big River, passed away on Monday, April 2, 2012, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital.
Born in Rogersville, he was the son of late Joseph and Suzanne (Belliveau) Poirier.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Lilliane Robichaud and his second wife, Martha Boudreau.
Beside his wife, he is survived by ten children: Bobby of Ottawa, Richard (Évangéline) of Cocagne, Linda Zammeit (Guy) of Grande Digue, Violette McKinnon (Bobby) of Alberta, Michel (Line Power) of Bathurst, Louis of Bathurst, Eric of Bas-Caraquet, Colette Savoie of Alberta, Florent (Dorina Bastarache) of Moncton, Rhéal of Bas-Caraquet.
Five step-children: Melinda Doucet of Bathurst, Michel Doucet (Debbie) of North Tetagouche, Diane Arseneau of Bathurst, Suzanne Vienneau (Bruno) of Bathurst, Denise Robichaud (Marc) of North Tetagouche.
One brother, Nazaire of Rogersville.
Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephew.
Hilaire was a Veteran of World War II, the Korea War and was a member of the Herman J. Good. V.C. Br. 18 or the Royal Canadian Legion, Bathurst. He worked most of his life as a television repairman.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at 4:00 from Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Bathurst. Donation in memory of Hilaire may be made to a charity of the donors choice. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com) Bathurst.
