Salmon Beach – Douglas Silver, 73, of Salmon Beach, passed away on Sunday (May 6, 2012) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst.
Born in Northfield, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late Thelma Silver and step-son to the late Wallace Nauss.
He worked at Brunswick Mines for many year and later for Costal Harvesters and was a member of the New Bandon/Salmon Beach Fire Department.
He was pre-deceased by his first wife, Velma (Sealy) Silver in 1997.
Douglas is survived by his wife, Mazie (Jagoe) Sealy Silver; two sons: Philip Silver (Karen) of Midland, Ont., Mark Silver (Nisha) of Bathurst; one daughter, Sherry Lynn Morrison (Keith) of Truro, N.S., one sister, Frances Brian (Eugene) of Lower Sackville, N.S.
3 grandchildren: Ava, Lee, Todd Douglas, several nieces and nephews.
One step-son, Roger Sealy (Germaine) of Dieppe.
Three step-daughters: Elda O’Neil (Ian Archibald) of Salmon Beach, Patricia Branch (Kevin) of Nepisiguit Falls, N.B. and Betty Taylor (Clive) of Bathurst.
7 step-grandchildren and 7 step-great-grandchildren.
The body will rest after 2 p.m. Tuesday at Elhatton’s Funeral Home, Bathurst. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday afternoon (May 9, 2012) at 3:00 p.m. from the Funeral Home Chapel, King Ave., Bathurst. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
