Allan Ferguson Sr., 84, of Alexander Dr., Bathurst, died Saturday (July 17, 2004) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Edmund and Jane (Chiasson) Ferguson.
He served in World War II, with the Royal Canadian Army in Canada and overseas. He was a member of the Herman J. Good, V.C. Br. 18, Royal Canadian Legion, Bathurst. He worked for CNR as a Transport driver.
He was pre-deceased by his wife, the former Dorothy Babin, in 2001. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by: Two sons: Allan Ferguson Jr. (Beverly) of Bathurst and Joey Ferguson of Toronto, ON, Two daughters: Eileen Lavigne of Bathurst, NB and Brenda Hinton (Richard) of Nackawic, NB, 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by 2 grandsons, Steven & Daren, 3 sisters, Addy, Dollie & Rena.
There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday afternoon (July 21, 2004) at 2:00 p.m. from the Sacred Heart Cathedral, St. Andrew St.
A Legion service will be held at the Cathedral during the Funeral Mass. Burial will be in the parish cemetery, King Ave.
