Joseph Edgar Power, 87, of Brideau Ave., Bathurst and formerly of North Tetagouche, died Friday (July 30, 2004) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late James Patrick and Henrietta (Lordon) Power.
He served in World War II, with the Royal Canadian Air Force in Canada. He was a member of the Herman J. Good, V.C. Br. 18, Royal Canadian Legion, Bathurst. He worked as a welder at the former Consolidated Bathurst Paper Mill and later a S.M.I.
He was pre-deceased by his wife, the former Eleanor Goldrup, in 1995. He is survived by: Four daughters: Joyce Power, Audrey Wafer (Gary) and Paula Power, all of Bathurst, Beverly Guilbeault (Ed) of Marathon, ON; Five sons: Cletus Power (Sandra) of Ottawa, ON, Jerry Power (Paulette) of Saint John, NB, Bernie Power (Louise), Blain Power (Kelly) and Rodney Power (Kim) all of Bathurst;
One brother: Pat Power of Marathon, ON, One sister: Alice Norris of Bathurst, 18 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by five brothers, Harold, Ray, Dan, Martin, Harry; and three sisters, Hilda, Rita and Vona.
The body will rest after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Elhatton's Funeral Home, Bathurst.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday afternoon (August 4, 2004) at 2:00 p.m. from Holy Family Church, St. Peter Ave., Bathurst. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
