Bathurst - Elmer Hinton , 90, of the Robert L. Knowles Veterans Unit and formerly of Gosnell St., Bathurst, passed away on Wednesday (September 19, 2012) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late John and Mabel (Jamieson) Hinton.
He served in World War II with the Royal Canadian Army and was a member of the Herman J. Good, V.C. Br. 18 of the Royal Canadian Legion, Bathurst. He worked for the former Consolidated Bathurst Paper Mill retiring in 1985.
He was a member of the First United Church and the Orange Lodge.
Besides his wife, the former Viva Knowles, he is survived by
two sons: Glynn (Krista) of Baltimore, Ont. and Lynn of Darthmouth, N.S.
Two daughters: Nancy Hallett (Brent) of Florenceville, N.B. and Susan Godin (Robert) of Moncton.
4 grandchildren.
One sister, Lillian Comeau (Herman) of Bathurst.
Several nieces and nephews.
The body will rest after 2 p.m. Friday at Elhatton Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday (September 22, 2012) at 2:00 p.m. from the First United Church, St. Patrick St.
Visiting hours are Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. A Royal Canadian Legion Service will be held on Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. from the Funeral Home.
