Bathurst – Ernest McGrath, 87, of Bathurst, passed away on Thursday (December 6, 2012) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a brief illness. Born in Paqueville, he was the son of the late Robert and Dorothy (Pinet) McGrath.

He worked for former Stone Consolidated Paper Mill.

He was pre deceased by his wife, Glorianne (David) McGrath.

He is survived by his special friend, Stella David of Bathurst. Two sons: Roger McGrath and Hector McGrath both of Bathurst.

Six daughters: Jeannette Martin (Marcel) of Greater Lakeburn, NB, Yvonne Kaus (Donald) of Beamsville, Ont., Theresa Fitzsimmons (Daryl) of Prince George, BC, Mary Jane Dunn (Bob) of Bathurst, Shirley Lavigne (Paul Belanger) of Sylvan Lake, AB, Sheila McGrath (Robert) of Dieppe; one adopted daughter, Gloria "Gallagher" Frenette (Greg) of Bathurst.

19 grandchildren: Michael, Donald, Tanya, Tammy, Connie, Kevin, Rodney, Tracy, Tyle, Johnny, Tyson, Richard, Jessie, Adam, Lloyd, Amy, Ryan, Shelena and Shane; many great-grandchildren; one sister, Gertrude David (Raymond) of Bathurst; sister-in-law, Carol Nippard of Bathurst, several nieces and nephews.

He was pre-deceased by an infant son, John.

There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home. A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. from the Sacred Heart Cathedral, St. Andrew St., Bathurst. Donations in memory of Ernest may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a favorite charity. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
