1917-2013
Florence Roussy of Bathurst, N.B., passed away on Monday, February 18, 2013, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital at the age of 95.
Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Marie Anna (née Hachey) Vienneau.
She is predeceased by her first husband, Joseph Edmond Leger and her second husband, Joseph Eugene Roussy, as well as her daughter, Irene (Leger) Babin and son-in-law, Cyril Babin; one brother, Emile Vienneau; one sister, Adeline Leger.
She is survived by two daughters: Pauline LaPointe (Conrad) of Courtney, B.C., Rose-Marie Clarke (Lloyd) of Moncton.
Two sons: Paul (Rachelle) of Moncton and Peter (Susan) of Arnprior, Ontario.
Thirteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Three sisters: Marguerite, Marionne, Josephine.
One brother, Johnny.
As well as Active in her community, Mrs. Roussy was involved in volunteerism for nearly 80 years, including municipal, provincial and national committees and organizations. The recipient of the Key to the City, named Freeman of the City, Seniors Goodwill Ambassador for several consecutive terms, recipient of the Paul Harris Award, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal and many, many more distinguishing honors throughout her lifetime. She was one of the founding members of the Catholic Women’s League in Bathurst. Her accomplishments and involvement in her community throughout her life seem endless and always in the service of others.
She was a devout and faithful woman, a loving and caring wife, mother, relative and friend. She will be very sadly missed by her family and by all who knew and were touched by her.
Visitation will be held at Elhatton Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com) Bathurst, on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 from 7 to 9 and Thursday February 21, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
Funeral mass will be held at the Holy Family Church on Friday, February 22, 2013 at 11 a.m.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Chaleur Regional Hospital for their care and kindness to Florence.
