Mrs. Verna Bales, 79, wife of the late William Bales, of the Dalhousie Nursing Home, Dalhousie, and formerly of King Ave., Bathurst, died Tuesday (August 31, 2004) at the Dalhousie Nursing Home, following complication from surgery.
Born in Salmon Beach, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Agnes Lillian (Murphy) Dempsey.
She worked as a hostess in Montreal for most of her life.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, William Bales.

Several nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by brothers, Herb, Gerald; and a sister, Eileen Hadley.
The body is resting at Elhatton's Funeral Home, Bathurst. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday morning (September 2, 2004) at 11:00 a.m. from the Sacred Heart Cathedral, St. Andrew St., Bathurst.
