Bathurst – Sister Céline Doucet, 89 and in her 55th year of religious life, passed away on Sunday (June 16, 2013) at the infirmery of the Religieuses Hospitalières de Saint-Joseph, Bathurst. Born in Petit Rocher, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Marguerite (Cormier) Doucet.
Besides her religious family, she is survived by three sisters: Gaëtane Doucet of Moncton, Sr. Thérèse Doucet, f.m.a., Sr. Berthe Doucet, f.m.a., both of Campbellton; sister-in-law, Lucille Paquet (late Victorin Doucet) of Montreal.
She was predeceased by five sisters: Laurette, Sr. Hectorine, f.m.a., Lucienne, Stella, Sr Ovéline, f.m.a. and seven brothers: Joseph (infancy), Hector, Père Rodolphe, Germain, Victorin, Père Patrice and Évariste.
Sr. Doucet entered into the Religieuses Hospitalières de Saint- Joseph of Vallée-Lourdes, on August 11, 1956, and took her vows to the order on August 22, 1958.
Sister Doucet was a Registered Nurse before entering religious life and offered her nursing skills in Bathurst and Tracadie. After further studies in nursing for Education and Supervising, she became a professor for the School of Nursing in Campbellton, University of Moncton, and Assistant Director of School of Nursing in Bathurst. After retiring as a nurse, she worked in pastoral to the Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst from 1990 to 2007.
Visitation was held at La Maison Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption in Bathurst. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 3 p.m. in Chapel of Maison Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption in Bathurst. Arrangements were in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
